Stepmom and Four-Year-Old

Gage Newville felt like the proudest little boy in the world as he stood next to his father, watching him exchange vows with his bride, Senior Airman Emily Leehan. This was already an emotional moment for everyone present, but what Gage didn’t know was that Leehan had prepared a set of vows just for him. When she began to recite them, it was overwhelming for the young boy.

As Leehan started speaking, Gage couldn’t hold back his tears. Leehan’s heartfelt words touched his young soul deeply. She told him, “I want you to be safe, and to try your hardest and to be a good person.” Unable to control his emotions, Gage threw his arms around her, seeking comfort and solace.

The audience couldn’t help but be moved by this genuine display of love and affection. Leehan tried to console Gage, saying, “Don’t cry baby.” In that moment, it was understandable for Gage to let his emotions take over.

But Leehan continued, undeterred by the tears. She told Gage, “The last thing I hope you learn is that you are a special boy. You are so extremely smart, handsome, and kind to others. You have helped shape me into the woman that I am today and I may not have given you the gift of life, but life surely gave me the gift of you.”

Both Leehan and Gage’s father, Newville, couldn’t help but shed tears of their own. It was a powerful and touching moment that will surely stay with them forever. Gage stole the show that day, not just because of his cute suit and innocent gaze, but because of his genuine and heartwarming reaction.

After the ceremony, Leehan and Newville had to return to their duty since they were still on active duty. They postponed their honeymoon and went back to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst to start their married life together. Despite the delay, their wedding ceremony was something truly special.
