At the age of 29, he tragically passed away at his home in Kingwood, Texas on January 17, 2024.

While the cause of his death has not been disclosed at this time, it has been mentioned that Shawn had been experiencing some health issues leading up to this unfortunate event. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.

A true Canadian Olympic Pole Vaulter, Shawn Barber soared to great heights and achieved remarkable success throughout his career. With a personal best vault of 6.00m, he still holds the Canadian record to this day. In 2015, Shawn secured the title of World Champion in the Pole Vault, and he proudly represented Canada as a finalist at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro.

As a student-athlete at the University of Akron, Shawn’s talent and dedication shone through. He claimed the titles of the 2014 and 2015 NCAA Indoor Pole Vault Champion, as well as the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Pole Vault Champion. These achievements further solidified his status as a remarkable athlete.
