We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of soap opera star Nicolas Coster at the age of eighty-nine. Known as a “real actor’s actor,” Nicolas played roles in various soap operas throughout his illustrious career. His most iconic role was that of the wealthy and charming Lionel Lockridge on the beloved soap opera, Santa Barbara.

Born in London, England in 1933, Nicolas and his family moved to the United States when he was just a young boy, seeking refuge from the looming threat of World War II. Growing up in the safety of America, Nicolas discovered his passion for acting after participating in a speech contest at his Los Angeles high school. Little did he know that this experience would set him on the path to becoming a celebrated actor.

After returning to Great Britain to study acting at the prestigious Royal Academy Of Dramatic Art, Nicolas launched his career in his early twenties, landing a role in the anthology series, The United States Steel Hour. Over the next few decades, he graced our screens in many popular programs, including Charlie’s Angels, Another World, One Day At A Time, and One Life To Live.

But it was in 1984 that Nicolas truly left his mark when he secured the pivotal role of Lionel Lockridge in Santa Barbara. He brought this complex character to life in over six hundred episodes of the beloved daytime drama. Lionel was a spoiled rich man with a mischievous side, but he had a heart of gold and loved his family dearly.

Nicolas’s talent extended beyond the small screen, as he also took on roles on Broadway. He even had the opportunity to perform alongside legendary actors Giancarlo Esposito and Michele Lee in the musical Seesaw.

In the wake of Nicolas’s passing, his daughter, Dinneen, shared a heartfelt tribute to her beloved father on Facebook. She praised his artistic achievements and recognized him as a true actor’s actor. Dinneen fondly remembered him not only for his professional accomplishments but also for being a loving and devoted father.

As we bid farewell to Nicolas Coster, let us remember the immense impact he had on the world of acting. His talent, dedication, and unforgettable performances have left an indelible mark on our screens and in our hearts. He will be sorely missed, but his artistic legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

Rest in Peace, Nicolas Coster.
