People have been singing Blink-182 lyric wrong for 24 years

Are you a die-hard fan of Blink-182? Do you know all the lyrics to their best songs? Well, brace yourself for a surprising revelation.

When we listen to our favorite bands and singers, it’s only natural to start singing along. As we become more familiar with the songs, we may even be able to recite the lyrics word-for-word, belting them out with joy in groups or during solo karaoke sessions.

But what if I told you that for the past 24 years, you and many other Blink-182 fans have been singing the wrong lyrics?

Yes, it’s true. Since the release of their hit song “What’s My Age Again?” from the album Enema of The State in 1999, fans have been unknowingly belting out incorrect lyrics.

For years, fans confidently sang along: “I took her out, it was a Friday night. I walk alone to get the feeling right…”

Wait a minute, what? You walked alone to get the feeling right? What does that even mean?

The actual lyrics are: “I took her out, it was a Friday night. I wore cologne to get the feeling right.” It’s all about spritzing on a bit of fragrance to smell nice for your date.

You’re not alone if you’ve been singing it wrong all this time. Fans have taken to social media to confess their lyrical mishaps. One fan admitted, “When I first heard ‘What’s My Age Again?’ way back, I genuinely thought Mark sang, ‘I walk alone to get the feeling right’.”

Another fan shared, “I always used to think it was ‘walk alone to get the feeling right’.”

This misinterpretation became so widespread that Blink-182’s bassist and co-lead vocalist, Mark Hoppus, even addressed it. He humorously tweeted: “Due to personal reasons, I will be wearing cologne to get the feeling right.”

He added, “Science fact: if you thought the lyrics were ‘I WALK ALONE to get the feeling right,’ you are a Fake Fan.”

Fans responded with a mix of amusement and self-reflection. One fan playfully pleaded, “IT’S ALL OF US, MARK. IT’S ALL OF US.”

Another fan asked, “It took me a while to figure it out, but I eventually did. Am I still a fake fan?”
