When country music power couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert tied the knot, fans were overjoyed. But their eventual divorce left many heartbroken and curious about what led to their split.

In a recent interview with CBS News, Lambert opened up about the intense media scrutiny she faced after the divorce. She expressed her surprise and said, “I wasn’t prepared for that. I don’t think anybody is. And it’s not nice sometimes, but I think you’ve got to take it with a grain of salt.”

As a singer-songwriter, Lambert found solace in her music, using it as a platform to express her truth. She emphasized, “I’m a singer-songwriter, so luckily I can tell my whole truth. I will not lie in my music.”

After five years of marriage, Lambert and Shelton announced their divorce in 2015, which came as a shock to many. Both of them moved on to new relationships soon after. Lambert found love again and married Brendan McLoughlin in 2019, while Shelton tied the knot with Gwen Stefani.

In their joint statement announcing the divorce, Lambert and Shelton expressed their sadness and stated, “This is not the future we envisioned, and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately.” They also requested privacy and compassion during that difficult time.

Looking back, Lambert recalled the first time she met Shelton during a performance in 2005. She described feeling an instant connection, saying, “I didn’t know if it was just initial butterflies… I don’t know what it was. It was just this draw to each other.”

Before their split, Lambert spoke highly of her relationship with Shelton, highlighting their ability to bring out the best in each other. She said, “I’m not sunshine and roses. Blake’s the happiest person on the planet. He pulls me out of my darkness… Literally, everything is the best about being married.”

Since marrying McLoughlin, Lambert has chosen to keep her second marriage private, learning from her previous high-profile wedding. She explained, “I was married before, and it was a huge wedding and everything was very public. So was my divorce. I learned then that it’s not for everybody else. This is my actual life. With Brendan, I made it a point to keep it as private as I could for as long as I could.”

Both Lambert and Shelton have found happiness in their respective relationships, moving forward with their lives after their divorce.
