Michael Madsen and his son, Hudson

Michael Madsen, known for his roles in “Reservoir Dogs” and “Kill Bill,” recently shared the devastating news of his son Hudson’s passing. The 26-year-old succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head, in what was reported as a suspected suicide event in January 2022, according to the City and County of Honolulu Dept. of the Medical Examiner.

In an official statement to Metro, the family expressed their heartbreak and grief over this tragic loss. They asked for privacy and respect during this difficult time. Madsen himself later released a statement to The Los Angeles Times, expressing shock and disbelief.

The 64-year-old actor revealed that he had recently spoken to his son, who seemed happy. In fact, the last text message he received from Hudson was a heartfelt “I love you dad.” Madsen shared that he hadn’t noticed any signs of depression, making this tragedy all the more shocking and confusing.

Madsen speculated that Hudson had been struggling since joining the army. He believed that his son faced mockery and resistance when he sought therapy for his mental health issues. Hudson had served in Afghanistan from August 2018 to January 2019 while stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado.

Hudson and his wife Carlie

Hudson was happily married to his wife Carlie, and the couple resided in Hawaii. According to Madsen, their marriage was going strong. This heartbreaking loss has left their loved ones and friends devastated.

Our deepest condolences go out to Michael Madsen and his family. May Hudson rest in peace. Let us all remember him for the light he brought into our lives.
