Sheila’s forward-thinking is evident in the utility laundry room, which combines practicality with style. One of the standout features is the cast iron spiral staircase that leads to the second floor, a testament to the lighthouse’s rich history.

Sheila’s commitment to preserving the lighthouse’s heritage is visible in her meticulous restoration of the windows. Each pane was carefully hand-stripped, with the paint removed and the glass replaced. She also commissioned stunning stained glass windows, adding a touch of modern artistry to the historic structure. At the top of the lighthouse, known as the widow’s walk, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Mentor Headlands Beach and Headlands State Park. Sheila has also incorporated sustainable living practices by installing solar panels and a wind turbine. The beacon of the lighthouse remains active, turning on every evening and shutting off at dawn, thanks to the Coast Guard’s maintenance.
