Shocking moment Lee Evans announced retirement before disappearing from showbiz completely

It’s been a while since we’ve seen the hilarious Lee Evans gracing our screens. The 59-year-old comedian decided to step away from showbiz nine years ago and has since become a rare sight in public. However, earlier this year, he was spotted out and about in London’s Covent Garden Market, enjoying a rare night out with his wife, Heather Nudds. It was a pleasant surprise for fans who had missed him dearly.

The news of Evans’ retirement came as a shock to his loyal followers. He made the announcement on The Jonathan Ross Show and left the audience stunned. In fact, some people, including the host himself, were unsure if the announcement was just a joke. But Evans was serious.

“This is it,” he declared. “Finished. It’s the end. Yep. Not doing anything. My manager passed away last year… I’ve always been working, working, working. But I’ve ignored my missus for far too long, and I want to spend more time with her. I ain’t doing nothing. I’m going to go and see my wife, give her a big hug, and say, ‘I am yours.’”

Evans reached a point in his life where he felt a lack of direction. He reflected, “I’ve come to a junction where I’ve done musicals, plays, films, and stand-up, and you sort of get to a point where you go, ‘I don’t know what else to do next.’”

Before retiring, Evans had a tremendously successful career. He even made his mark in Hollywood with films like There’s Something About Mary and The Fifth Element. He was known for his incredible comedic talent and had the ability to sell out arena tours, performing for over 10,000 people. His fans simply couldn’t get enough of him.

According to The Richest, Evans is estimated to be worth around $8 million (£5.6 million). Most of his wealth came from his highly popular arena tours rather than his film appearances. In fact, his 2011 ‘Roadrunner’ tour sold £7 million worth of tickets on the first day alone, and the tour went on to gross a staggering £12.9 million.

We can’t deny that we miss Lee Evans and his infectious laughter. But we genuinely hope that he is relishing his well-deserved retirement and enjoying quality time with his loved ones.
