Wife shares heartbreaking message after husband feared dead from bridge collapse

Heart-wrenching news struck Maryland this week as the Francis Scott Key Bridge tragically collapsed, leaving six individuals missing and presumed dead. The incident occurred when a large vessel collided with the bridge, causing sections of it to plummet into the Patapsco River. While recovery operations are underway, the US Coast Guard has sadly confirmed that the search and rescue efforts will be discontinued.

Among the missing workers are Miguel Luna and Maynor Yassir Suazo Sandoval, who both called the United States their home for many years. Miguel, a dedicated husband and father from El Salvador, had spent two decades in Maryland. He was part of the crew assigned to repair potholes on the ill-fated bridge. Maria del Carmen Castellón, Miguel’s wife, shared her heartbreak as she anxiously awaited any news about her husband’s fate.

Maynor, a father of two hailing from Honduras, was also one of the victims. He had been living in the US for eighteen years and had recently been working on pothole repairs alongside Miguel and the other missing workers. The devastating news came as a shock to their families and loved ones.

The company responsible for the bridge maintenance, Brawner Builders, expressed deep sadness at the unexpected collapse. Jeffrey Pritzker, a senior executive at Brawner Builders, emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to safety and expressed the profound shock felt by everyone involved.

Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of the missing workers during this incredibly difficult time. The entire community stands in support and solidarity as we mourn the loss of these hardworking men.
