Sad bear sat alone in a rusty cage for 30 years, but her reaction is beautiful when they set her free - NEWS20CLICK

If Fifi the bear could speak, she would recount a heartbreaking story. But thankfully, her story has a wonderful, happy ending!

Over 30 years ago, Fifi, a bear cub, arrived at a roadside zoo in Pennsylvania. For years, she and other bears were forced to perform confusing tricks, like standing on their hind legs. When the roadside zoo closed its doors more than 20 years ago, Fifi was left behind in a tiny, dilapidated cage with nothing but a rundown doghouse for shelter.

Fifi’s condition was devastating. She was malnourished, her coat was dull and dirty, and she suffered from untreated arthritis that made every step a painful struggle. However, in July 2015, PETA and The Wild Animal Sanctuary came to her rescue. They transported Fifi to a sanctuary in Colorado, where she would finally receive the care and the spacious habitat she deserved.

After just five months at the sanctuary, Fifi’s transformation is truly remarkable. Her body now reflects her big and beautiful personality. She is healthy, her coat is full and vibrant, and her legs are growing stronger with each passing day. Most importantly, this year marks a milestone in Fifi’s life as she experiences hibernation in her new, cozy den for the very first time.
