Martha Stewart, a globally renowned figure with a huge fan base, recently faced backlash for a social media post she made during her visit to Greenland. Many people have described this post as “tone-deaf.”

Despite receiving great appreciation for her appearance in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue in May at the age of 82, her latest Instagram photo did not receive the same warm response from her followers.

Stewart shared a picture on her Instagram account on Tuesday, August 29, taken during a cruise along the east coast of Greenland, where she enjoyed a cocktail. The photo included the entrepreneur and television personality, accompanied by the caption, “End of the first zodiac cruise from Swanhellenic Cruises into a very beautiful fjord on the east coast of Greenland. The cocktails that we are going to serve tonight are truly just the tip of the iceberg.”

Although Stewart probably meant for her post to be harmless, it drew criticism from followers who found her use of a “small iceberg” for her drink in poor taste. Many criticized her in the comments section, expressing their dissatisfaction with her reference to ice while the ice caps are melting.

One Instagram user pointed out, “Martha, the ice caps are melting; you shouldn’t put them in your drink.” Another person commented, “I generally love Martha and the beautiful aspects of her life, such as gardens, homes, and food, but seeing wealthy white people drinking their iceberg cocktails while the planet is in flames is a bit tone-deaf.”

In addition, a third person sarcastically stated, “So, as the climate warms due to the profits of a few thousand people, billionaires vacation to the melting icebergs, scoop them up, and use them to keep their cocktails cold. It sounds like something out of a dystopian fiction. You can’t make this stuff up, lol.”

“Even though the ice caps are melting and the planet is warming, we still need glacier ice for our cocktails! What a display of tone-deafness!” remarked a fourth individual who expressed disappointment.

Despite the positive feedback received for her bold and confident appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated, where she donned bikinis at the age of 81, Stewart’s recent post about Greenland has been criticized for insensitivity towards climate change concerns.
