Dolly Parton, a beloved figure in both country music and the celebrity world, has recently announced that she will be taking a step back from touring. At 76 years old, the iconic musician has decided to spend more time at home with her husband, Carl Thomas Dean. Despite this, she will continue to create new music and entertain her loyal fans.

In a recent interview with Pollystar, Dolly shared her reasons for this decision. She stated, “I may occasionally perform unique shows here and there – maybe at a festival or over a long weekend. But a full-fledged tour is no longer in my plans.” With a smile, she expressed her desire to prioritize her relationship with her loving husband.

Dolly and Carl first met in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1964, in front of the Wishy Washy Laundromat. At just 18 and 21 years old, respectively, their connection was immediate. Carl was so struck by Dolly’s beauty that he confidently declared, “I’m going to marry that girl.” Their love story began with a simple invitation to watch her nephew, and it has lasted for over 50 years.

The couple exchanged vows in a secret ceremony in Ringgold, Georgia, in May 1966. Despite their record company’s advice to postpone the wedding, they couldn’t wait to start their life together. Only Dolly, Carl, and her mother were present, ensuring a private and intimate celebration.

Dolly and Carl have cherished their love for each other throughout the years, and in 2016, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows. Now, they have decided to devote even more time to each other. Dolly explained, “Travelling has been a big part of my life, but I want to stay closer to home with my husband as we get older. I don’t want to be away for long periods of time in case something happens and I can’t be there for him or a loved one.”

Additionally, Dolly’s latest musical works are dedicated to her husband’s love for rock n’ roll. In fact, earlier this year, she received a nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She joyfully shared, “I’ve always wanted to do an album mainly for him because he’s a huge hard rock ‘n’ roll enthusiast. So when I found out about the nomination, I thought, what better time to do it?”

While Dolly takes some time to slow down, she is currently working on a Christmas special for NBC and finishing up her new album. Her fans can look forward to more incredible music from the legendary artist.

Dolly, we wish you all the happiness in the world as you enjoy this well-deserved break with your husband. Your generosity and talent will always be cherished by your adoring fans.
