Weddings can be quite expensive, and some brides go to great lengths to plan a budget-friendly celebration. However, there are instances where the costs associated with the event can hit everyone’s pocketbooks, especially the guests.

One bride had grand plans for her wedding and believed it would be best for the guests to foot the bill. In fact, she requested that each guest contribute approximately $1200 just for the privilege of being invited. Unfortunately, only eight guests responded with an RSVP and payment, leading to a difficult situation for the couple.

It’s important to consider that most friends and family members are likely facing financial hardships and can’t afford to spend such a significant amount on a lavish wedding. Despite this, the bride, Susan, was unhappy with the turnout.

Taking to social media, Susan announced the cancellation of the wedding and shared her reasons: “Dear friends, it is with great sadness that I announce the cancellation of the wedding. I apologize for cancelling just four days beforehand. Unfortunately, my fiancé and I have decided to end our relationship due to recent and irreparable problems, leading us to not proceed with any future proceedings.”

Despite her disappointment, Susan didn’t seem to offer much of an apology. She explained, “I specifically, I mean specifically asked for cash gifts. How could we have our dream wedding without proper funding? We sacrificed so much and only asked each guest for around $1,500 [Canadian].”

Susan continued, sharing the contributions she received from her maid of honor and her ex’s family. She believed that asking for $1,500 from other guests was not out of the ordinary, considering the exclusive nature of their wedding. She even saw it as a once-in-a-lifetime party.

However, it seems that Susan’s idea didn’t resonate with anyone else. From an outside perspective, it appeared as though she was asking for a handout, justifying her extravagant plans with the idea that their love was like a fairytale.

Unfortunately for Susan, her ideal wedding was not shared by her guests, and she had to face the reality of their unwillingness to meet her demands.
