'My Mommy's Not Breathing': Chilling Call 4-Year-Old Girl Made to Emergency Services While Trying to Save Mom - My Blog

A heartwarming and inspiring story unfolded in Walesby, England, when a brave young girl stepped up to save her mother’s life. Aimee Hamer, a 40-year-old mother of four, has been battling various medical conditions that sometimes cause her to become weak and unconscious. However, her five-year-old daughter, Daisy Hamer, became her real-life hero when she made a chilling call to emergency services that ultimately saved her mom’s life.

It all happened on May 23, 2022, as Aimee began to feel unwell while getting ready for bed with Daisy. In an effort to distract her daughter, she handed Daisy her phone to watch YouTube videos. Little did she know that this innocent act would turn into a lifesaving opportunity for Daisy.

As Aimee’s condition worsened and she became unresponsive, Daisy, being familiar with her mother’s medical situation, immediately called 999 for help. Aimee suffers from a long-term heart condition, iron deficiency anemia, and vitamin deficiency, which often lead to dizziness and fatigue. Aimee had taught her children the importance of dialing emergency services in such situations, and Daisy courageously followed her mom’s instructions.

During the emergency call, four-year-old Daisy remained calm and answered the questions from the Emergency Medical Advisor. She explained that her mom wasn’t breathing, and with the assistance of her two-year-old sister Molly, she performed CPR as instructed. Miraculously, Aimee started breathing again, thanks to the quick actions of her daughters.

It wasn’t just the CPR that Daisy managed to handle with maturity and bravery, but she also provided vital information, such as their home address, using the phonetic alphabet her mom had taught her. Aimee had made learning fun and memorable by turning their postcode into a rhyme. Daisy’s presence of mind and attentiveness played a crucial role in ensuring that the ambulance found them promptly.

Aimee expressed her admiration for Daisy’s composure during the entire ordeal. She had prepared her children for emergencies, but seeing Daisy’s level of determination and initiative left her amazed. Aimee shared her experience, saying, “Daisy is amazing and so grown up for her age. After what happened, Daisy has decided that she wants to become either a paramedic or a surgeon when she is older.”

Daisy’s bravery and quick thinking were rightfully recognized by the East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS). In December 2023, Daisy received a bravery award from EMAS at her school, acknowledging her heroic actions that saved her mother’s life.

Paramedic Phillip Rowe, who was among the first responders on the scene, praised Daisy’s extraordinary efforts. He mentioned that it is rare for someone so young to be able to provide detailed information like their home address using the phonetic alphabet. Daisy’s calmness and clarity in guiding the emergency responders greatly assisted them in providing the necessary medical care for Aimee.

During a joint interview on “This Morning” in January 2024, Aimee and Daisy proudly shared that Daisy’s bravery award is displayed on the wall in her bedroom, serving as a reminder of her incredible courage.

This heartwarming story reminds us of the strength and resilience children possess, as well as the importance of teaching them essential life skills. Daisy’s quick thinking and bravery highlight the immense impact that even a young child can have in an emergency situation. Her actions not only saved her mother’s life, but they have also inspired others and earned her the admiration of everyone involved.
