Frank Caprio, the beloved 87-year-old judge and star of Caught in Providence, recently shared an emotional video on social media, announcing his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. In the heartfelt clip, Caprio talks about his recent birthday celebration and then breaks the news about his health.

“This birthday is a little different than any other I have ever had. Quite recently, I was not feeling well and received a medical examination, and the report was not a good one,” Caprio begins in the video.

He goes on to explain that he is currently undergoing treatment in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Caprio is determined to fight this insidious form of cancer and asks for his followers and fans to pray for him.

“One thing that people ask me is, ‘What can I do for you?’ First of all, I can’t thank all of you enough for your friendship and your kind messages. But I would ask each of you in your own way to please pray for me. I am in need of the power of prayer, which I believe, in addition to the medical treatment that I’m receiving, is the most powerful weapon to help me survive this,” Caprio expresses with hope.

Frank Caprio is best known for being elected as Providence Municipal Court Judge in 1985. His cases were televised locally, and clips from his family-produced show gained popularity on YouTube. Eventually, his show, Caught in Providence, was syndicated.

After a successful career, Caprio retired in January 2023, leaving behind a legacy as a fair and compassionate judge.

Let’s join together and send our prayers to Judge Frank Caprio as he faces this difficult and challenging time. Receiving a cancer diagnosis is never easy, especially during the holiday season.
