John, a 100-year-old World War II veteran, and Phyllis, who is turning 103 this summer, found love on the same floor of their care facility. They discovered that they were compatible in many ways and grew fond of each other’s company. Both widowed, with two previous marriages each, they were ready for a new beginning.
Their bond goes beyond playing Bingo and other activities common in the facility. When asked about their favorite thing to do together, John cheekily replied, “Well, I probably shouldn’t talk about that.” Phyllis, however, candidly expressed their continued desire for an intimate relationship. She humorously stated, “He’s not completely dead sexually, and neither am I! But as a Christian, I believe in waiting until marriage.”
With their desires aligned, John and Phyllis decided to make their love official. They headed to the courthouse to obtain a marriage certificate, never expecting they would leave as husband and wife. John couldn’t hold back his excitement, exclaiming, “I said ‘good, let’s get it over with’.”
