In a small town in Gallipolis, Ohio, a KFC restaurant has recently made headlines for a sign they posted on their front door. The sign reads, “All uniformed police officers eat free everyday.” While this gesture was meant to show support and appreciation for the men and women in uniform, it has caused quite a stir.

Since the sign went up, it has gone viral, with over 5,000 shares and 10,000 likes on Facebook. It seems like most people are supportive and happy about it, especially members of the police force. However, there are also those who are not happy with this decision.

Some people believe that all first response services should be included, not just the police. They feel that firefighters, paramedics, and other first responders should also be acknowledged and offered free meals. Even an officer from Ohio Going Blue, an organization that supports law enforcement, agrees with this sentiment.

The officer stated, “This is a positive post, but some of you can’t see the bigger picture. As an officer, I don’t expect or want anything to be free or discounted, whether I’m in uniform or not. And I know other officers feel the same way. We don’t like ‘special treatment.’ KFC is acknowledging law enforcement, which is why this was posted. But I absolutely agree that other first responders should also be acknowledged.”

While there may be differing opinions on this matter, it is important to recognize the bravery and sacrifice of all first responders. They put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe, and they deserve our gratitude and support. Offering a free meal is just one small way to show appreciation for their service.

What do you think of the KFC sign in the window? Do you support it?

Way to go KFC! The police, firefighters, and all servicemen, as well as veterans, should get that. 👍

I served 20 years in the military, 10 overseas including two tours with the 1st CAV in Vietnam. I never had to worry every time I went into the boonies. Even there, there were only a few times we were in danger compared to a police officer. They leave the house daily, and every day, there is that thought of IF they will see their family again, DAILY, EVERY DAY!!! Even sitting in their car, knocking on a door to see why they called, they could be ambushed. THERE IS NEVER ANY ASSURED DOWNTIME. I take my hat off to the police. A few bad ones (disgruntled from the treatment they get?) will never change my opinion of these fine people, willing to place themselves between me and the bad guys, which seem to be getting more with these lazy politicized DA’s!!! I will always aid-assist an officer. They do it for me and MY FAMILY, I will too. GOD BLESS OUR POLICE!!!!!
