A mother and her daughters used to enjoy frequent girls’ excursions, an opportunity to bond and have fun without the men in the family. However, things changed when the mother’s son got married to a woman named Beth. Initially, Beth was included in these trips as she became a member of the family. But after having a child, her weight became a hindrance, and the mother found it difficult to include her.

The mother wanted to seek opinions from others to determine if her actions were justified. She shared her story on Reddit, questioning whether or not she was wrong for excluding her daughter-in-law due to her weight.

The issue arose because Beth, since her pregnancy, had not been able to lose her weight, making it challenging for her to keep up with the activities involved in the girls’ trips. The mother and her daughters loved going on day trips, but Beth’s weight caused frequent pauses during walks, which affected their enjoyment.

Recently, the mother invited her daughters for a fun trip to a farm for a pumpkin patch and apple picking. She intentionally did not invite Beth because it would have required numerous breaks while wandering around the vast orchards. In addition, during their last trip to the mall, Beth wanted to spend most of the time sitting on a bench. This behavior led to the mother’s decision to exclude her daughter-in-law from the family activity.

When Beth discovered that she hadn’t been invited, she called the mother to inquire about it. The mother, not wanting to hurt her feelings, lied and stated that it was a family-only trip. Beth saw through the deception and confronted the mother, labeling her a “jerk” before hanging up.

Subsequently, the mother’s son texted her, instructing her to apologize to Beth. However, the mother’s daughters backed her up, showing their support and expressing their exhaustion with Beth ruining their trips. This prompted the mother to turn to the Reddit community for unbiased opinions on whether or not she was wrong for excluding her daughter-in-law based on her weight.

The mother, concerned about the situation, seeks understanding and validation for her actions. She wants to know if her decision to exclude Beth was justified given the challenges caused by her daughter-in-law’s weight.
