Mom Gets Harsh Criticism After Naming Her Daughter After A Disney Character

Indy Clinton, a 25-year-old mom from Sydney, Australia, made headlines when she decided to name her newborn daughter Bambi. Inspired by the classic Disney character and Love Islander Molly-Mae Hague, who also chose the same name for her baby, Indy faced backlash from online critics. However, she remains unfazed by their opinions and stands firm in her decision.

Indy gained popularity on TikTok, where she shares videos showcasing her unique style and her family. In one of her TikTok posts, she expressed her disbelief at the coincidence of both her and Molly-Mae using the name Bambi for their babies.

Disney’s movie Bambi holds a special place in Indy’s heart since she was a little girl. She even bought a storybook version of Bambi, which she reads to her 2-year-old son, Navy. Given her love for the character, it felt natural for Indy to honor her favorite Disney character by naming her newborn daughter after Bambi.

Originally, Indy had planned to name her daughter Paloma. However, when she met her newborn, she was struck by her sweet and curious nature, along with her big, brown eyes. The resemblance to the Disney cartoon character was undeniable, leading Indy to change her baby name plans and choose Bambi instead of Paloma.

Even though Indy’s daughter is now four months old, her extended family still finds it surprising that she named her human child after a Disney cartoon baby deer. Reflecting on the naming process, Indy shared, “Four months ago, when I was giving birth, I was convinced Bambi was the most unique and unusual name that nobody would use.”

She further added, “Good on Molly-Mae, though. It looks like great minds think alike. We were set on calling her Paloma at first. That was her name, and nothing was going to change that. But I was reading the book to Navy one night, and it came to me.”

Describing the moment of inspiration as if lightning struck, Indy excitedly exclaimed, “I sat up and yelled, ‘what about Bambi?’ and from then on, it stuck.”

While both Molly-Mae and Indy face criticism for choosing the name Bambi for their daughters, Indy remains undeterred. She believes that unique names are in vogue and that Bambi will fit right in with names like Rivers, Bears, Forests, Stormis, and Wolfs. The 25-year-old mom asserts, “People will criticize anything these days, so at least give them something to talk about.”

Regardless of the opinions of others, Indy Clinton stands tall, proud of the Disney-inspired name she chose for her daughter, Bambi.
