Attention, NCIS fans! If you haven’t caught up on the NCIS: Los Angeles series finale or the NCIS: Hawai’i season finale, you might want to do that now because we have some exciting news for you.

LL Cool J, who played Special Agent Sam Hanna, made a surprise appearance during the NCIS: Hawai’i season 2 finale. And guess what? He’s not going anywhere! CBS has officially announced that LL Cool J will be returning to the franchise as a recurring character in NCIS: Hawai’i season 3.

LL Cool J

“All of us at NCIS: Hawai’i have been huge fans of LL Cool J for years and couldn’t be more thrilled or honored to be adding his spectacular talent to our ‘ohana for season three,” said executive producers Matt Bosack, Jan Nash, and Christopher Silber. This is going to be something special!

Sam’s story in Los Angeles ended with him receiving information about a medical study for his father. In the last episodes, he and Callen (Chris O’Donnell) traveled to Morocco to find Hetty (Linda Hunt). But now, he’s heading to Hawai’i to assist Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) and Kate Whistler (Tori Anderson) in solving some intense cases.

“One of the most beautiful things about working on NCIS: Hawai’i is the show’s ability to bring the franchise together,” Lachey shared. “We have had so much fun spreading the aloha to NCIS and NCIS: LA with the triple crossover. Now, we have the amazing opportunity to bring Sam Hanna to Hawai’i to help the island solve some cases and maybe have a few laughs in the process. Welcome to the ‘ohana, Todd! It’s going to be a fun ride!”

LL Cool J himself shared his excitement on Twitter and assured fans that Sam Hanna is back in action. He will be joining the NCIS: Hawai’i team as a recurring guest star in the upcoming third season. So mark your calendars and tune in!
