Shannen Doherty, known for her role in Beverley Hills 90210, continues to inspire with her indomitable spirit. Recently, she opened up to her fans about her ongoing battle with breast cancer and shared some heartbreaking news.

A Devastating Update

Unfortunately, Doherty revealed that her stage four breast cancer has spread to her brain. Despite beating cancer once before, she was diagnosed again in February 2019. Since then, she has been sharing her journey and speaking openly about the challenges of living with cancer.

In a recent video posted on her Instagram account, Doherty can be seen receiving treatment while tears well up in her eyes. The caption on the video reads, “January 12, 2023.” She explains that the video shows the process of getting fitted for a mask used during radiation treatment to her brain. She underwent her first round of radiation on January 12.

Facing Fears and Overcoming Challenges

Doherty, 52, candidly expressed her fear and anxiety in her post. As someone who is claustrophobic, wearing the mask for radiation was particularly difficult for her. However, she remains grateful for her amazing doctors, like Dr. Amin Mirhadi, and the supportive technicians at Cedar Sinai. Doherty wanted to show her followers that this is the reality of what cancer can look like.

Earlier, she shared a throwback video from January in which she was being fitted for a thermoplastic mask that covered her face and neck. In another video, taken on January 16, she talks about her surgery to remove and biopsy a tumor in her head. The vulnerability and bravery she displays throughout are truly inspiring.

Selma Blair also reached out, wishing for “wise peace” to find Doherty. Sarah Michelle Gellar, another actress and friend, expressed her support for the Charmed star.

Doherty herself shared a series of photos from her friends, including Gellar, and thanked them for their immense support. In a previous post, she referred to her mother as a “beacon of light” and “an endless well of support and love.”
