Contrary to popular opinion, some jobs are meant to last a lifetime. And being a mom is one of them. For Ada Keating, a 98-year-old mother, and her son Tom, who is 80 years old, their bond is stronger than ever, even as they both reside in a senior home.

A Remarkable Display of Devotion

A year after Tom entered the nursing home, Ada made the decision to join him. They moved from their hometown of Wavertree to a care home in Liverpool to ensure they could continue their tradition of looking after each other.

The staff at the care home were amazed to witness such a rare and heartwarming dynamic. It is not often that a mother and son reside in the same senior home. Typically, it is married couples or siblings who share this experience. But the bond between Ada and Tom is truly special.

Unbreakable Habits

Ada’s commitment to caring for her son is unwavering. She visits Tom’s room every night to say goodnight and greets him every morning with a cheerful “good morning” as she heads down for breakfast. Their routines have remained steadfastly adorable, showcasing their unchanging habits that bring them closer together.

Forever a Mother

Even in a care home, Ada never stops being a mom. Tom appreciates her presence and the support she provides. He jokes that his mom still tells him to behave himself when necessary, although those instances are few and far between. Ada’s love and motherly instincts remain strong, ensuring both her and Tom’s contentment.

A Family Filled with Love

Tom is one of four children, with two sisters named Barbara and Margi. Ada and her late husband Harry also had another daughter, Janet, who sadly passed away at the young age of 13. Throughout his life, Tom lived with Ada, choosing not to marry.

Despite residing in a care home, Ada and Tom are fortunate to have the ongoing support and visits from their family. Their granddaughter Debi and other relatives regularly come to see them, bringing them joy and reminding them of the love that surrounds them.

Cherishing Every Moment Together

As they enjoy the remaining years of their lives, Ada and Tom are grateful for the opportunity to be by each other’s side. Ada’s unwavering devotion and Tom’s childlike excitement when she returns from errands create a heartwarming bond between mother and son.

In a world where relationships can sometimes grow distant with age, Ada and Tom’s unbreakable bond serves as a reminder that a mother’s work is never truly done.
