Can you believe it? Dick Van Dyke, the beloved comedy legend, is still gracing our screens at the age of 97! After his recent appearance on The Masked Singer, he is now set to make a guest appearance on an episode of the long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives. But this time, his role will be a little different. He will be playing an older man suffering from amnesia.

When asked about this unique role, Van Dyke expressed his excitement, saying, “I have played old men before, but they were always comedic characters. This will be the first time I get to just be my 97-year-old self.” It’s incredible to see his passion for acting still burning brightly after all these years.

The opportunity for this role came about when Van Dyke approached Drake Hogestyn, who plays John Black on the show, at the gym. “Drake and I used to work out at the same gym,” he shared. “I used to joke with him, saying, ‘Don’t you ever have any parts for old people? Come on, give me a chance!’ And he took me seriously. He got me a part.”

To prepare for his upcoming role, Van Dyke immersed himself in the world of Days of Our Lives, watching several episodes of the 58-season series. He also sought advice from fellow industry friends who have guest-starred on soap operas. Carol Burnett, who had a recurring role on All My Children in the ’80s, shared some valuable wisdom with him. “Make sure you know all your lines because they don’t do retakes,” she advised him in a heartfelt recorded message.

In his soap opera debut, Van Dyke will share a scene with Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn. This fall, we will get to witness the incredible talents of this legendary actor unfold in a whole new setting.

Being a big fan of Dick Van Dyke myself, I am eagerly anticipating his performance on Days of Our Lives. It’s truly inspiring to see someone of his age and caliber still pursuing their passion and captivating audiences with their talent. If you’re also a fan of this incredible actor, let’s share the excitement together!
